The Challenge - Let's all tackle climate change

Climate change is caused by the carbon emissions that are released into the atmosphere as a result of human activity.  The good news is that, we all have the power to make changes that can slow down this process.  Therefore, we can all tackle climate change, and we need to start now!

We understand that most people would like to help to tackle climate change, but we often feel powerless to do so.  But the good news is that our NZH team can help you, your family and the local communities to achieve a meaningful carbon reduction.  So let's take on the challenge together.

Firstly,  if you are not already signed up to take part in the Net Zero journey, email us today at NZH@sdce.org.uk

Along with our partner - Carbon Savvy, we will help you to understand how much carbon your current lifestyle emits, then help you to make small changes that will save carbon emissions, save you money, save energy and become a NZH.

We hope that by inspiring your children to be involved in undertaking small actions regularly, it will help them to form good environmental habits at home forever.

HOW TO BECOME A NET ZERO HERO
To start your Net Zero Journey, follow these 4 simple steps:
  1. Watch the YouTube video
  2. Measure your carbon footprint using the Carbon Savvy Calculator tool
  3. Get an activity booklet from your school or email the NZH team
  4. Complete the fun activities in the booklet, which will guide you through your carbon reduction journey. Enjoy!

Our Partners Carbon Savvy have a great website with many hints and tips to make your lifestyle, cleaner, healthier and happier....with their Spring Clean Your Lifestyle week.

Here are some more details....

"We all know that modern lifestyles are heavy on CO2 output, but have you ever thought you could give those carbon-heavy habits a spring clean and improve your quality of life at the same time?  People across Devon are going to do just that, with four councils and a group of partner organisations coming together for Lifestyle Spring Clean week (March 12th-21st).  It aimed to make reducing your carbon footprint simple and enjoyable and showed that doing so can lead to healthier, more satisfying lifestyles at the same time.

Those taking part will visit the Carbon Savvy website and calculate their carbon footprint, then pick one or more actions that can save CO2.  Those who take part can also enter a competition to win an electric bike!  Who says Devon is too hilly for cycling?!"
