Sophie Phillips - Chair
Sophie has worked in the domestic energy efficiency and renewable energy sector since graduating from the University of Bath in 2005. She is a qualified energy advisor and whilst at the Devon Energy Efficiency Advice Centre worked with individuals and communities across Devon to help them reduce their fuel bills and cut carbon emissions. Prior to this Sophie worked at the Centre for Sustainable Energy, delivering a school energy education project and assisted running renewables training events for planners and councillors across the UK.
Sophie gained a good knowledge of micro renewable energy systems working on the award winning Renewable Energy 4 Devon project. She then lead on a successful bid for the Retrofit for the Future programme, and brought together a team of experts to deliver a prototype low energy refurbishment. This sparked her interest in Passivhaus building, and Sophie later was able to work at Warm: Low Energy Building Practice.
Sophie is currently Chair of SDCE and leading on our ground breaking eco-affordable housing project. She has been a key member of the team since 2016 involved in developing and running many of the projects SDCE has undertaken.
Living in Ivybridge with her family, she loves getting outdoors, running on the moors and exploring the coast with their two young children. Sophie is a Christian and is committed to sustainability, social justice and community engagement.
