Cooking Christmas dinner may be stressful, but despite this, for many its a joy to be able to provide a special meal for the people we love. Unfortunately there are many people who just don't have that option:
"I just don't know if I can do it this year, last year I got up at 5am to cook the turkey with the off-peak electricity. But this year I can't get the Warm Home Discount, so I don't know...."

We've just launched a Crisis Fund Appeal, to ask people to consider donating their Winter Fuel Payment if they don't need it. The WFP is not means tested and is given out to everyone over 65 regardless of circumstance. And if you don't rely on it, SDCE would love the opportunity to redistribute that grant to someone else in your community, like the householder quoted above.
