communal areas

PictureA sketch of what the community hub building could look like
The Community Hub
The community building is a multi purpose building, providing meeting areas, guest suite and hot desks. The hall will be available for public hire, and will have large south facing doors opening onto a decked area overlooking a pond with beautiful views across the South Hams.

There will be 6 hot desk spaces providing much needed 'work from home' facilities, so that people can still have some separation between home and work and also the social elements of an office environment.

Following the community consultation in August 2020, we took on board ideas from the community and have adapted this building slightly from our earlier plans

We have extensive shared outdoor areas, spending time outdoors in nature is well documented to improve mental health and wellbeing. We are working with an excellent landscape architect who has developed a plan to meet the needs of the people and the wildlife that will live here.

So there will be
natural safe play spaces for the children who live on the site to explore,  allotments for people to grow their own veg, or communal allotments for people to team up and share the work, and a small orchard.

We're ambitious about our communal spaces, most new developments do not have many communal spaces because they don't generate an income for the developer, they're also hard to manage. But we want to build the kind of community we'd like to live in, and local people told us they want this too in the consultation. We know that if people have more opportunity to meet together and chat, it builds community resilience. We have a long term strategy to work with our tenants to make the most of this place.
